FAQ’s

For Owners

Absolutely! We encourage you to list absolutely anything and everything that pertains to the outdoors; this includes accessories! If there’s not yet a category for your equipment, get in touch with us and we’ll add it.

No. By signing up for RecShare, users agreed to the Terms and Conditions, stating that Renters are responsible for their own ability to use the equipment. You are, however, able to offer training if you desire.

We screen all users upon sign up. However, most of the time you can check reviews that they have received from previous transactions. In the case that the Renter is new to RecShare you are taking a little bit of a chance. However, as the sharing economy has demonstrated over the past several years, problems are rare and usually minor. RecShare is a community of like-minded enthusiasts. We believe in the power of trust. Should something happen, contact us and we’ll help you get it resolved and ban the member for life.

That is up to you to decide. Some people meet at homes, others in a public place. Communicating clearly with the Renter will lead you to a meeting that suits both parties. We strongly encourage you to communicate within the RecShare messaging system during this process so that we can adequately monitor and safeguard against any issues. If you have chosen one of our hosting plans, we take care of everything for you!

You get paid via PayPal. This ensures your information is secure. When you create your account, you will need to enter your PayPal email address in your ‘My Profile’ section. Your funds, less the 30% admin fees, will be released after the rental has taken place.

RecShare takes 30% of the rental fee for all transactions. This fee allows us to have a dedicated staff working tirelessly to make the experience better for our users. We also have a community outreach program to introduce inner-city kids to outdoor & adventure sports, which this fee supports as well.

You will be compensated for the retail value of your equipment. Accidents do happen, so if the Renter rectifies the situation quickly, that should not negatively affect their user review. Contact RecShare immediately to initiate the replacement process as soon as you know your equipment has been damaged.

By you, the Owner. We encourage you to look at similar rentals in your area before listing to see what items are listed for. It’s our opinion that the market should determine the rates. Keep in mind that you’re helping others; we recommend keeping your rental costs low to increase conversions.

You can, but, we strongly recommend you don’t. Each transaction must go through RecShare to ensure Users receive the safeguards and benefits of the marketplace. We provide you peace of mind that if your equipment is damaged or lost, it will be replaced. If you meet off-line, you will risk losing your equipment and we won’t be able to help you.

For Renters

Again, this is up to you and the Owner to decide. What works for the two of you, works for us.

Contact RecShare immediately. It’s very important that Owners represent their equipment accurately and we will work with the Owner to update their listing. Of course, you will not be charged if you decide the equipment is not something you want to use.

By the Owners themselves. It’s our opinion that the market should determine the rates so owners should do their research to see what traditional rental companies are renting out similar items for and price accordingly.

No. By signing up for RecShare, users have agreed to the Terms of Use, which states that Renters are responsible for their own ability to use the equipment.

When you are getting radical accidents may happen. Should something go wrong, you’ll be required to cover the cost so the Owner can replace their equipment. If you break it, it’s the right thing to do to replace it. Also, replacing equipment you accidentally break will not affect your user rating negatively. Owners understand that things happen and if you work to rectify the accident quickly, your review should still be positive. Contact RecShare immediately to initiate the replacement process as soon as you know that equipment has been damaged. In sharing marketplaces your User Rating is your trust currency. Being a responsible User ensures your ability to fully participate in RecShare for years to come.
