Where and when do I pick up rented gear?

That is for you and the Owner to decide. Some people meet at homes, others in a public place. Communicating clearly with the Owner will lead you to a meeting that suits both parties. We strongly encourage you communicate within the RecShare messaging system during this process so that we can adequately monitor and safeguard against any issues.

Where and when do I return rented gear?

Again, this is up to you and the Owner to decide. Whatever works best for the two of you, works for us. Prefer to have it shipped to you or your destination? That can be arranged as well. 

How are prices set?

The Owners themselves determine their own rates. We encourage the Owner to price their items based on current markets trends.

Does RecShare provide any insurance in case I am injured?

We do not at this time. By signing up for RecShare, users have agreed to the Terms of Use, which states that Renters are responsible for their own ability to use equipment.

What happens if I break/damage/lose rented gear?

When you are getting radical accidents may happen. Should something go wrong, you’ll be required to cover the cost so the Owner can replace their gear. If you break it, it’s the right thing to do to replace it. Also, replacing gear you accidentally break will not affect your user rating negatively. Owner understand that things happen and if you work to rectify the accident quickly, RecShare will ensure that you are still able to use the platform. Contact RecShare immediately to initiate the replacement process as soon as you know that gear has been damaged. In sharing marketplaces your User Rating is your trust currency. Being a responsible User ensures your ability to fully participate in RecShare for years to come.

How do I know the Owner is trustworthy?

Most of the time, you can check reviews that they have received from previous transactions. In the case that the Owner is new to RecShare, we assure you that we have carfefully vetted the Owner and have approved them as a trusted User. However, as the sharing economy has demonstrated over the past several years, problems are rare and usually minor. RecShare is a community of like-minded adventurers and travelers. We believe in the power of trust.

Am I responsible for making sure renters know how to use my gear?

No. By signing up for RecShare, users have agreed to the Terms of Use, which states that Renters are responsible for their own ability to use equipment.

How do I know the Renter is trustworthy?

We carefully vet each and every user before allowing them to rent gear on RecShare. This includes a driver’s license verification, email verification, social media verification, and a thorough background check. Additionally, as the sharing economy has demonstrated over the past several years, problems are rare and usually minor. RecShare is a community of like-minded adventurers and travelers. We believe in the power of trust.

How and when do I get paid?

You get paid via RecShare’s third-party payment gateway provider. This ensures the process is PCI compliant and your information is secure. Prior to listing equipment for the first time you will enter your banking information to receive direct payments. In most cases, your funds will be available for a cash out request directly in from your vendor dashboard once per week. A minimum of $25 is required to request a cash out. 

How much does RecShare take from my rental fee?

RecShare only takes 10% of the rental fee of all transactions. However, this fee may vary depending on whether or not you choose to have your listings managed by us or our partners. This fee allows us to have a dedicated staff working tirelessly to continue improving the user experience. We also have a community outreach program to introduce inner-city kids and disabled children to outdoor & adventure sports, which this fee helps to support.

What if my gear is broken/damaged/not returned?

It will be replaced. It’s that simple. Peer-to-peer sharing does not work if users are afraid of theft or damage. That said, accidents do happen in outdoor & adventure sports, so if the Renter rectifies the situation quickly, that should not negatively affect them. Contact RecShare immediately to initiate the replacement process as soon as you know your gear has been damaged.

How are prices set?

By you, the Owner. We encourage you to look around the site prior to listing to see what similar items are listed for. We strongly believe that the market should determine the rates.
